Follow Up Video:    • Did I Blow Up the Inverter?

I was given this inverter from Reliable Electric, the manufacturer. This was my payment for making a previous video for them. Reliable makes a line of single phase cheap (inexpensive) inverters. This one is made for 120v output and 48v input.

Installing this in my DIY powerwall was very similar to installing my previous inverter, except I replaced the wires with thicker wires that came with the inverter.

The DIY powerwall has about 18kwh or storage in the battery bank. The battery is made from used Chevy Volt EV batteries. I re-wired them and have a series of videos on that topic.

Unfortunately the inverter did not last a day. When trying to power up my miter saw (15 amps, 120 v) it blew the internal fuses. I show this happening and then remove the fuses and check some of the mosfets. Some mosfets survived, but some died. Since some mosfets died I won't be able to use the inverter simply with new fuses. The mosfests have to be replaced.

I'm sharing the information with Reliable Electric and hope I can help them diagnose what happened. I will post a new video if there is an update. Reliable Electric has been great at customer support and I want them to keep making inverters.

I marked this video as "paid promotion" to try and stay safe, but I'm not 100% sure if it falls into the category or not.
